I have been researching thriller videos to use the conventions of the flashbacks in order to help us progress. I have been watching a variety of videos and this is the one which I think most helpful.

I have been drawing a few ideas down on the storyboards, so far I have 3 different ideas to do, but we can't make our minds up yet.

Our Thriller Ideas

We are going to start our thriller with someone in a forest, starting with an above camera shot to set the scene. We then want to spiral the camera into a close up of the persons face, as they begin to wake up. The person will be tied up somehow and the scene will be made up of them breaking free. We our going to have a point of view shot of the person as they look around to establish their surroundings. Also, we are then going to make the character have flashbacks to set up the story for the rest of the film. In the flashbacks, there is going to be a new character added to the scene, where the person tries to establish how he got to the forest. We are going to make the other person in the scene get kidnapped and therefore the storyline to the film will be the person trying to find their friend.
Once the person has managed to break free, their phone is going to then ring, stating that they have 24 hours to find their friend otherwise they die. Because of this, we have decided to name our thriller '24 Hours'.

Researching Thrillers

This is the trailer for Saw, which we got some of our ideas from. Like in this film, we wanted to create mystery as to why the character was where they were at the start of the film. However, we are going to try to leave out the horror element to our film so that it does not go in to the horror category so much.

First Thriller Ideas

Saw inspired us because we wanted to create a psychological thriller. We wanted to start our opening sequence with someone waking up in either a dark room like in Saw or perhaps a forest, which would lead to many questions to begin with as to how the character got there. Like in Saw, we had the idea of the characters life being in danger, however, we thought this would be quite a difficult scene to create as lots of props would be required to create the effect that we were after. Because of this, we looked at The Bourne Identity too. We had the idea of the character in our footage not knowing who they were, where they were and what they were doing, like in Bourne, which would create the stroyline for the rest of the film.
